Etymology
From vingrs (“agile, strong”) + -ināt (or perhaps from vingr(ot) (“to exercise (intr.)”) + -ināt). In its modern sense, this term was introduced by A. Kronvalds in the 1870s; previously, its meaning had been simply “to refresh, to freshen up.”
