Caboverdiano is a creole language spoken on the Cape Verde islands near the African west coast. The language is derived from Portuguese, but has also many words borrowed from Mandinka and other African languages.

Caboverdiano is the native language of virtually all Cape Verdeans, and it is used as a second language by the Cape Verdean diaspora. It is the oldest (still-spoken) creole, and the most widely spoken Portuguese-based creole.
