Chapter 3: Languages screen

In the Languages screen, you can choose the active language and get more information of the chosen language.

You can choose the language either from an alphabetical list (1) or from a list that shows the languages ordered by linguistic family (2).

By clicking a language in the list (4), you will change the active language. The active language is shown in the Statusbar (4). If you doubleclick any language, you will immediately get to the verb tables (Chapter 4). You can also switch to the verb tables by pressing the 'Verb tables' button in the menubar.

By pressing the info button (5), you will get more info of the selected language. This corresponds to clicking the 'more info' icon in the menubar.

Maps

Maps are used to show the geographic distribution of native speakers of the active language. If there is no map, you will get the same information verbally from the more info subscreen.

More info

The 'more info' icon displays more info of the active language. From the tab (1) you can choose whether to show general info, the books used as source or technical info related to the language.

General info

General info provides the user with the language name (2), the linguistic family to which the language belongs to (3), the number of native speakers of the language (4) and a list of the countries with native speakers of the language (5) (also see Maps).

Books

A number of books are used as source for Verbix. The sources are listed here as to give Verbix users info of grammar books of interest.
